You can still visit the Blue Tit’s nest at Áras an Uachtaráin, we’ve been checking in on her daily, she’s been busy keeping her eggs warm waiting for them to hatch.
February 14th was the start of the Chinese New Year.
This is a very important time in China. The New Year celebrations last for fifteen days. On the last day there is a big lantern festival, with dragon dances and fireworks.
In the Chinese calender, each year is named after an animal. The year 2010 is the year of the tiger. The tiger is a sign of courage.
Have a look to see what animal is linked to your birthday year!
It was Grandparents Day on Wednesday the 3rd of February. Finbarr came in to tell us what life was like when he was a little boy. He told us lots of interesting things and he showed us some of the games he used to play when he was in school. He loved hurling and football. He played Queenie, Hopscotch and marbles with his friends. They didn’t have playstations, Nintendos or Wiis – imagine that!!
We played hopscotch and marble games in the yard on Wednesday. They were a little bit tricky but alot of fun!
We have been learning all about spring.
The months of spring are February, March and April.
The days are getting longer.
The weather is getting warmer.
The swallow and the cuckoo return to Ireland.
The birds are busy building their nests and laying eggs. The frogs lay eggs too, this is called frogspawn.
Baby lambs are born in spring.
We see buds on the trees.
We will soon see daffodils, snowdrops and crocuses in the gardens.
Here are some pictures from our halloween party in school
